Behind every great artist is a great woman – or five – as we leap forward and back through time with the brash and brilliant Henri Matisse, when his wife joins forces with a handful of women who serve as the models for his painting, “Dance 1,” and for a newly liberated life in 1909 Paris. The prolific Rice is skillful in taking the audience on a fanciful, fun, inspiring and sexy journey in her latest play, QUANTUM LEAPS.

In 1909 Paris, Amélie Matisse longs to experience life, but she’s weighed down by domestic burdens. When an opportunity to break through to fame presents itself to her artist husband, Henri, he is stymied. She takes a drastic step to set his creativity in motion. Thanks to Amélie’s determination and four women to come to model for Henri’s painting, science and imagination are harnessed to spin the women to freedom.
An intriguing glimpse behind the bedroom curtains of legendary artist Henri Matisse and wife Amelie. What kept my attention was Amelie’s determination to get horny hubby Henri to make the quantum leap of redirecting his powerful sex drive out of the bedroom, “get it up” onto the canvas, and create “Dance 1.
